SaxoCHILD-BMBF supports new children's research center

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) supports the establishment of the centre with total funds of 3.5 million euros.

Scientist of Dresden University (TU Dresden) and Leipzig University aim to work together with researchers of the Centre of Environmental Research (UFZ) to find answers to these questions:What does it take, for children to grow up within a heathy environment? How is their development supported or endangered by the changing environment? How can we recognize risk factors early, understand and prevent them? The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), which encompasses seven locations nationwide, will provide for the concept and establishment of the center with funds of 3.5 million euros. 500.000 euros of the funding will be to the state of saxony. The project coordinator Antje Körner (CRC/C5) has been successfully investigating the development of obesity and its consequences for children in a wide concept throughout many years. This concept encompasses a wholistic approach of clinical, genetical and experimental basic scientific research.

We are congratulating Prof. Antje Körner for this achievement.
