Dr. Kathrin Landgraf (CRC1052/C5) received the Young Investigator Award

The 7th Helmholtz Diabetes Conference was held in Munich from 23-26 September, 2019. At this event Dr. Kathrin Landgraf received the Young Investigator Award by the scientific journal Molecular Metabolism for presenting the best abstract at the Helmholtz Diabetes Conference.

Dr. Landgraf is postdoc in Antje Körner´s team (CRC 1052/subproject C5) at the Center of Pediatric Research of the University Children´s Hospital Leipzig. In this work, she showed that one of the major “obesity risk genes” (TMEM18) has an important role in the development of healthy, metabolically active fat tissue, which is impaired in the development of obesity in children.

This work is integral in the spectrum of Antje Körner´s team aiming to identify predisposing factors for the development of obesity and first comorbidities already in childhood and to dissect underlying mechanisms.
