Gender equality measures of the CRC 1052

Equal opportunities for female and male researchers and family-friendly policies to improve the balance between family and work are important concerns for CRC 1052. Individual requests should be addressed to the scientific coordinator of the CRC, Dr. Lysann Penkalla (contact).

The program of the CRC 1052 benefits the following measures:

Workshops

Every year at least one workshop is dedicated to female graduate students to improve their personal skills. During their PhD work, different pieces of training in communication, presentation or writing skills are offered.

Workshop “Career Planning for Doctoral Researchers”

Childcare service "Wiesenknopf"

In cooperation with the child care agency Wiesenknopf, we can offer a flexible and mobile childcare service to our members, ensuring a family-friendly work environment.

The mobile childcare or a babysitter service can be taken advantage of whenever additional childcare is necessary, e.g., during scientific events relevant to the CRC 1052, in case of increased working hours, when regular childcare is not available, during unforeseen events on similar occasions.

Using "Mini-makz", the mobile game suitcase supports the child care  service during the CRC retreats. The lending is free of charge for students and employees of Leipzig University.

Mentoring
In cooperation with the equal office of Leipzig University, female graduate researchers and postdocs can apply for an individual coaching program.

The program "t.e.a.m. für Promovendinnen" is specifically offered for doctoral students. The mentoring program "t.e.a.m. für Postdoktorandinnen" for Postdocs is realized by the University cluster Halle – Jena – Leipzig.

Career management

Successful scientists from academia and industry are invited to join our Career cafe and talk to PhD students about their work, their own career path, reconciliation of family and work-life and future opportunities in academic science and industry.
